Costa Rica, February 2018 – B and B with Hart and Isolda (of Brasilia).

We flew to San Jose, the capital of Costa Rica.

San Jose street view.

Jambo. Isolda loves it. We found it rather tasteless.
We flew from San Jose south to Puerto Jimenez.
Our bathroom at Danta Corcovado eco-lodge. Danta is a tapir. Has a 3-toed footprint used as a logo by the lodge. The furnishings throughout were made of beautiful polished hardwoods.
Bird carving in the bar/lobby area

Nearby hammock. Shoes were removed for polished floors. Electricity was solar-powered. Nonexistent at night.

This tractor, complete with license plate, pulled a wagon (with us riding) to the Corcovado National Park.
The driver served us treats of watermelon and pineapple.
These beautiful, noisy macaws were everywhere.
After two days at Danta Corcovado, we took a boat ride across the Golfo Dulce to Salandero (one who salts fish).
Storage area for kayaks and accoutrements

Bromeliad on palm trunk
As it was the dry season, these were the only fungi we found (turkey tails).
This is a boa constrictor that was hanging around the garden area.
After three days, having had enough of the snake, we moved on to La Leona on the Pacific coast. Candles lit our way at night.
Bob got to ride the horse cart out — thankfully, as the ride in on the back of the dune buggy was rough. The rest of us walked the 4 km.
The jungle comes all the way to the ocean.
It wasn’t safe to swim (rip tides) and the waves were big and crashing (all night!).
But truly a lovely place! Each lodge was terrific in a unique way.
